Делаю по этому мануалу http://www.islandlinux.org/HOWTO/openldap_samba.html#configu...
при попытке "заселения" новой базы такое =( :

проверяйте еще раз smbldap.conf на предмет корректного binddn и bindpw, с теми что вы указали скрипт соединиться с каталогом не может.

надо проверить ... вот тока думаю не smbldap.conf , а smbldap_bind.conf
я тут ещё нашёл тут мануал, как базой управляться phpldapadmin.... может лучшее решение чем то что я делаю сейчас ?

да, верно smbldap_bind.conf phpldapadmin это более общий инструмент для работы с каталогом, а пользователями\группами гораздо проще управлять используя smbldap-tools
