The information in the following Security Bulletin should be acted upon
as soon as possible. Hewlett-Packard Company will not be liable for any
consequences to any customer resulting from customer's failure to fully
implement instructions in this Security Bulletin as soon as possible.

PROBLEM: There are buffer overflow conditions in dtmail and
rpc.ttdbserverd.
PLATFORM: HP9000 Series 7/800 running HP-UX releases 10.10, 10.20,
10.24, 10.30, and 11.00 only.
DAMAGE: The buffer overflows can be exploited to increase privileges
or to gain unauthorized access.
SOLUTION: Install the patches listed below.
AVAILABILITY: The patches are available now.

A. Background
Hewlett-Packard has learned of buffer overflow conditions in
the dtmail and rpc.ttdbserverd products. The programs are
supplied as part of HP's implementation of CDE.
NOTE:
CDE does not need to be enabled for a system to be vulnerable.

D. Impact of the patch
The patch provides new versions of dtmail and rpc.ttdbserverd.
