Cross references:=20=20 Obsoletes: RHSA-2001:098 --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Topic: Updated OpenLDAP packages are now available for Red Hat Linux 7, 7.1, and 7.2. These updates resolve a vulnerability which would allow users to remove non-mandatory attributes from any object in a directory. 2. Relevant releases/architectures: Red Hat Linux 7.0 - alpha, i386 Red Hat Linux 7.1 - alpha, i386, ia64 Red Hat Linux 7.2 - i386, ia64 3. Problem description: Versions of OpenLDAP from 2.0.0 through 2.0.19 do not check permissions using access control lists when a user attempts to remove an attribute from an object in the directory by replacing its values with an empty list.=20 Because schema checking is still enforced, a user can only remove attributes which the schema does not require the object to possess. These packages update OpenLDAP to version 2.0.21 which is not vulnerable to this problem. 4. Solution: Before applying this update, make sure all previously released errata relevant to your system have been applied. To update all RPMs for your particular architecture, run: rpm -Fvh [filenames] where [filenames] is a list of the RPMs you wish to upgrade. Only those RPMs which are currently installed will be updated. Those RPMs which are not installed but included in the list will not be updated. Note that you can also use wildcards (*.rpm) if your current directory *only* contains the desired RPMs. Please note that this update is also available via Red Hat Network. Many people find this an easier way to apply updates. To use Red Hat Network, launch the Red Hat Update Agent with the following command: up2date This will start an interactive process that will result in the appropriate RPMs being upgraded on your system. 5. Bug IDs fixed (http://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla for more info): 6.
