Synopsis
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
A processing error in WeeChat might lead to a Denial of Service.
Background
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
Wee Enhanced Environment for Chat (WeeChat) is a light and extensible
console IRC client.
Affected packages
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Package / Vulnerable / Unaffected
-------------------------------------------------------------------
1 net-irc/weechat < 0.2.6.1 >=3D 0.2.6.1
Description
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
Sebastien Helleu reported an array out-of-bounds error in the colored
message handling.
Impact
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
A remote attacker could send a specially crafted PRIVMSG command,
possibly leading to a Denial of Service (application crash).
Workaround
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
There is no known workaround at this time.
Resolution
=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D
All WeeChat users should upgrade to the latest version:
# emerge --sync
# emerge --ask --oneshot --verbose ">=3Dnet-irc/weechat-0.2.6.1"
