NetFile FTP Denial of Service (Nonexisting Username)

SUMMARY
About <http://www.fastream.com/netfileserver.htm> NETFile: "Secure,
multi-threaded FTP/HTTP server combined, featuring automatic virtual
links, U/D ratios, quotas, authentication and extremely fast directory and
file caches. Other features include: User and group permissions with
permissions for all standard FTP and HTTP commands. Serving from behind
NAT/PAT. HTTP file uploading and management. Free for personal use;
professional license is required for commercial usage".
By sending a crafted USER and PASS strings an attacker can crash the FTP
server.
DETAILS
Vulnerable Systems:
* Net File version 6.5.1 and prior
Immune Systems:
* Net File version 6.5.1.981
The program is unable to manage nonexistent user name in the login
procedure. To crash the server simply send request like this:
USER anUsername
PASS aPassword
If the user anUsername does not exist in the system, the server can be
crashed.
Vendor Status:
Bug fixed in the version 6.5.1.981 that can be obtained from the vendor's
