NAME analyzer - Motif interface for analyzing an experiment that is generated by using the Sampling Collector from the Sun WorkShop Debugging window. SYNOPSIS analyzer [ experiment ] AVAILABILITY Usable with C, C++, FORTRAN 77, Fortran 90, and Assembler. DESCRIPTION The Sampling Analyzer is a graphical data analysis tool that helps analyze performance data that is collected using the Sampling Collector from the Sun Workshop Debugging window. During the execution of a process under the Sun WorkShop Debugging window, the Sampling Collector gathers profiling information. Using this collected data, the Sampling Col- lector creates an experiment. The Sampling Analyzer reads in the experiment, analyzes the data, and displays that data in a graphical display. The displays supported by the Sam- pling Analyzer are: Overview, Histogram, Cumulative Histo- gram, Address Space, and Statistics. If the experiment is not specified on the command line, then it needs to be opened from within the Sampling Analyzer. In addition to analyzing the data, the Sampling Analyzer also provides a function reordering capability. Based on the experiment, the Sampling Analyzer can generate a mapfile that when used with the static linker (ld) to relink the application creates an executable with a smaller working set size. The Sampling Analyzer also provides the ability to select and fully delete experiments. To activate the Sampling Analyzer, you can type analyzer [ experiment ] or click the Analyzer button on the tool bar in the main WorkShop window. The Sampling Analyzer supports Help on all of its button menus and pop-up windows. SEE ALSO dbx(1), er_export(1), er_mapgen(1), er_print(1), er_mv(1), er_rm(1), workshop(1).
