NAME
     sdtvolcheck - check for media and open media found

SYNOPSIS
     sdtvolcheck [-z nsecs] [-fdDs] [media_spec [cmd [arg...]]]

DESCRIPTION
     Check for removable media and (by default)  open  the  media
     found.   sdtvolcheck  watches  continuously for media inser-
     tions while the user is logged into CDE,  and  is  also  run
     when the user explicitly asks to open a removable volume.

     If the media has a volstart file in the mount  point  direc-
     tory, sdtvolcheck will attempt to execute it.

OPTIONS
     -d   Monitor the specified media continuously.

     -z nsecs
          Sleep nsecs seconds before doing anything.  Useful  for
          preventing race conditions at startup.

     -D   Pass device path (e.g. /vol/dev/rdiskette0/volname)  as
          well  as  mount point (e.g. /floppy/volname) to cmd. By
          default, only the device path is passed.

     -f   Do not format  unreadable  media  found.   By  default,
          media  that are unlabeled or unformatted are first for-
          matted before cmd is run.

     -s   Single shot mode. Find the  first  matching  medium  or
          medium  partition  that matches the supplied media spec
          and ignore remaining partitions.  This option  is  only
          used by CDE actions.


OPERANDS
     media_spec
          The media for which to check, e.g. floppy, cdrom,  zip,
          jaz,  dvd,  *. If no media_spec is provided the default
          is *, meaning all mounted media. If you want  to  check
          for  a  subset  of  these  use  a  comma separated list
          (without spaces) ie. floppy,zip,jaz  sdtvolcheck  opens
          all volumes described by /tmp/.removable/media_spec*.

     cmd arg...
          The command to run on any media found.  The command  is
          passed  the mount point and optionally the device path.
          The default command is dtaction Open.  Except when  the
          -d option is given, sdtvolcheck waits synchronously for
          each invoked command to exit.

RETURN VALUES
     0              Successful completion

     1              Invalid command line options.

     2              /tmp/.removable does not exist and could  not
                    be created.

     3              Notification  pipe  /tmp/.removable/notifyNNN
                    could not be created.
