Проблема со сборкой пакета. Распаковываю пакет, перехожу в его папку, даю команду

Понимаю, что что-то не установлено. Но есть недопонимание относительно gcc и make. Предполагаю, что не та версия gcc и вообще не установлен make, потому что в INSTALL описана обычная последовательность команд, которую я и выполняю. В чем может быть проблема, направьте? И если не сложно, сразу дайте ссылки или вкратце напишите, как обновляется gcc и устанавливается make? В Центре управления проверил, make установлен.
